Answers
Only the baddest mamma-jamma on the internet, iPhone, or in the universe for listening to your peeps talk about video gaming.
How can I listen?
You can listen on the internet or on your iPhone. Eventually we will develop the mobile application for other platforms.
When will the iPhone version be out?
It's out! You can get it on the app store on iTunes or on the iPhone right now! Buy it, love it, review it, and spread the word!
Why do I have to register to listen?
You don’t have to register. We would love it if you did though. Registering allows us to remember your pause points and it also helps to know how many listeners we have, which will in turn help us to build a bigger and better tomorrow….I mean, network.
Does my email address go to anyone else when I register?
No! We will never use your email address for anything other than remembering where you left off. We will not give it to anyone and we won’t send you any direct marketing.
Does the web player really remember where I left off on my iPhone and vice-versa?
Yep!! There is a catch though; you must have a cellular or wireless connection on the phone when you stop listening in order for it to work. So, 1% of the time it may not work. Otherwise, you can listen in the car, push pause, go into the house and log-in and it will resume where you left off in the car.
Holy crap that’s cool (see above)!!
We know.
I have a show; will you put it on Furious Gamer?
If you have a podcast and you would like us to consider it, please email us and provide us with the URL of where to find it. We will be happy to listen. Please know that we like to listen to several episodes over time to get a sense of consistency and also that, while we want to be as inclusive as possible, we cannot include everybody. There is a limit to the number of shows that we believe we can provide to you and support effectively, so not everyone can be on FGR. But we are happy to listen to anyone who asks!!
I want to host a show, whaddaya think? Can you help?
Why yes, young Billy, we can! For starters, please Google 'how to host a podcast'. There is tons of information on the web to get you started. This will give you an idea of the equipment and set-up you will need. Then drop us a line and we can talk. Furious Gamer does want to help produce some shows; otherwise we may be able to offer you some guidance if we can’t be that hands-on. Similar to the above statement, we can’t help everyone and not every show will get on the network, but we would love to help you as much as we can! Check out the Forums for show ideas or to share yours with the FGR community.
What is the ‘Games’ list all about on the player?
Well, to put it simply, we have revolutionized radio as you know it. The ‘Games’ list is a feature that applies content tagging to the shows for a different way to listen. If you want to hear what people are saying about a specific game, you can choose from the games list and when you select a specific show within a game, it will jump right to the time they begin talking about that game.
Holy crap, that’s cool too (see above)!!
We know.
Why isn’t the game I want listed in the Games list?
We try to keep the Games list populated with the most recent and most popular games. At this time we just simply can’t fit them all on the list.
How come there are only some shows listed when I click on a particular game?
Not everyone talks about every game. We post only what we are given.
Ok then smarty pants, what is the ‘Radio’ button?
The ‘Radio’ button is the big orange button which you push to get radio! Duh. Actually, no it’s not. The radio button allows you to listen to the network with one button press as if you were listening to a live radio station. It will randomly order the shows and play them back to back so you don’t have to decide what to listen to. No muss, no fuss.
Why is the mobile app 99¢ to download?
The mobile application is 99¢ to download because we are trying to keep advertising off of the website and network if we can. We don’t know if we will be able to do that forever, but we damn sure aim to try.
So why, then, do some of the shows have advertising on them?
The shows are presented as is, unedited by Furious Gamer. Some of the shows do have advertising; however, Furious Gamer Radio takes no part of the revenue generated by the shows ads. That being said, the individual shows work very hard to do what they do and in most cases have done so for a long time, and they need to generate some revenue to perpetuate their shows. Please do not begrudge them the desire to keep doing what they do. I assure you, the money they make off of the ads is far below what they deserve for the great content they have brought us for many years.
How come we can’t talk about specific games in the forums?
We are trying to create a radio network that is good for everyone; the listeners the network, and the podcasters. Each show already has a website that has its own richly developed community where there is tons of gaming discussions in their forums. We strongly encourage you go to their sites and participate with them as well. As for our Forums, as you will see when you go there, we decided to take a bit of a different slant. Check em’ out, you may find them interesting.
Why is there a mature content warning on the network?
Furious Gamer Radio is made up of shows from real people, just like you and me. While we do ask that the hosts maintain a modicum of decency, we have no desire to censor anyone or to ask the hosts to change their shows. This is community generated content. It should reflect those who are producing it…..so sometimes it might get a little blue. Consider yourself warned.
What is Uncanny Valley?
Uncanny Valley is the first show produced by and exclusively for Furious Gamer Radio. It is hosted by Tim Fenoglio and is available only on Furious Gamer Radio. Check out the About page for a description of the show.
